| So...Fry's won't let me have time off for the backpacking trip with my dad. It was a HUGE disappointment. Apparently they don't give "personal days" off until you've been there about a year. Ugh. How dumb. However, we aren't completely throwing out the plan, we're just tweaking it a bit. I am quitting mid November before I leave for Philly...I'll be gone Nov. 18-Dec. 10. As soon as I get back, dad and I are planning a trip into the Grand Canyon. Humphrey's Peak is closed to hikers during that time (too much snow) so we're doing the Canyon instead. We're going to hike to Havasupai Falls (hopefully)!!! I am SO excited. I've wanted to do this for a while so I really hope it works out...For those of you who have not heard of it or seen pictures, here they are. It looks absolutely incredible. I am anxious to actually SEE it and STAND by it. Sigh.

| I just watched Crash for the first time tonight. It was really good. And i feel a little weird saying that because it isn't like other movies I call "good." But it was well made, well thought-out and made its audience think...and choose...So it was good. Its full of things I've been thinking about all summer...so many things. It's strange because there was an incident at my store two weeks ago (in my checkout line) between a white man and a black man. It sort of woke me up to a few realities...because it was personal, and right there in my face. So I've been thinking a lot about race, gender, politics, etc. And this morning I listened to Piper's sermon, "Abortion, Race, Gender and Christ." It was amazing. I've been thinking about a lot of things today, as you can tell. I guess that's all I have to say.... | | |
| I listened to Guster "I Spy" tonight for the first time in a LONG time. It brought back SO many memories. Kinda weird.....of all Guster songs. I like it a lot. Anyway. Isn't it weird how a song can transport you?...and take you to a completely different time and place? Cool, just crazy.
